Nancy Chestnut Edens

Nancy Chestnut Edens, 85, of Tallahassee, Fla., born January 6, 1931, in Huntersville, W.Va. (Pocahontas County), went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2016. She died of natural causes. She was the daughter of the late Russell Gilmer and Blanche Bussard Chestnut. She graduated Valedictorian from Marlington High School (1949). She married Sam Jack Edens on August 12, 1955, in Kingsport, Tenn.; they were married until his passing in 2011. They raised three children. During that time they lived in Kingsport, Tenn., and East Stroudsberg, Pa., before settling in Tallahassee, Fla., where she worked at Rose Printing Co., and Municipal Code as a proofreader and later as a legal editor. In 1980 they moved to California and in 1989 she and her husband started their own printing business “S&S Pre-Press.” In 2001 she retired and they moved back to Tallahassee, Fla. Nancy lived for the Lord and loved being with her family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Jack Edens; one grandchild, Daniel Seth Bray; her sisters, Mary, Marie (Marshall) and Sue (Shoaf); and brothers, John, Carol and Ronald Chestnut.
Survivors include three children, Jackie Bray (Larry), Kirk Edens (Janie) and Susan Wester (Mike); seven grandchildren, Samuel Bray (Abigail), Jeremy Bray (Christine), Joseph Bray (Carlena), Bethany Bray, Sara Grace Bray, Karli Edens and Samantha Bright (Mason); and 10 great-grandchildren, Anna, Bethan, Isabella, Rachel, Felicia, Theodore, Walter and Beatrice Bray and two on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Russell Chestnut.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, August 28, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601, with a graveside service to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Grace to You” ministry at P.O. Box 4000, Panorama City, CA 91412, in memory of Nancy C. Edens.
