Correction: It has come to the attention of the Tetrick Funeral Home that an individual submitted erroneous information pertaining to the survivors of Mr. Robert “Bud” Hughes. In our commitment to the families we serve we would like to submit the following correction:
The erroneous information includes the following survivors: a daughter, Pat Patterson and husband Ralph, two grandchildren, Trish Mullins and husband Cody, and Princess Blevins, great-grandchildren, Noah Mullins, Grace and Landon Collins, Emily and Jackson Blevins, and Bruce Lee Bentley.
The correct information includes the following survivors: a sister, Opal Sadler; and a niece, Laura Sadler; and his beloved companion dog, Rusty.
Robert “Bud” Hughes, 81, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Hillview Health Center. He was the son of the late Blaine and Vestal Hughes and was born in Johnson City, Tenn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Canter Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked at Murray Guard, where he was a security officer, and had also been employed at East Tennessee Chair Company in Elizabethton. Mr. Hughes was a member of Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include a sister, Opal Sadler, Johnson City; and a niece, Laura Sadler, also of Johnson City. He is also survived by his beloved companion dog, Rusty.
A Committal Service for Mr. Hughes will be conducted on Saturday, August 20, at 10 a.m. in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. The family would like to offer sincere appreciation to Avalon Health Care, his nurse, Mary Phillips, his social worker, Pam Keeton, his caregiver from Legacy Health Care, Jessica Vanover, and the members of Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church for all the care, love, and support shown to Mr. Hughes and to the family during his illness.
