Howard Conwell Crowe

Howard Conwell Crowe, 86, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Earnest and Mae Belle Crowe.
Howard was a veteran of the United States Army and had retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He attended the Valley Forge House of Prayer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Calhoun; a brother-in-law, Bill Calhoun; a brother, James “Jim” Crowe; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Crowe.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Margaret Crowe; two daughters, Patricia Hyder and husband Ronnie and Judy Gosnell and husband Randy; grandson, Chad Whisnant and wife Hillary; great-granddaughter, Dezaray Whisnant, all of Hampton, Tenn.; a son, Tony Crowe and wife Tomi Gayle, of the Valley Forge community; grandson, Jeremy Crowe and Shane Greene, Johnson City, Tenn.; three brothers, Harry Bea Crowe and wife Patsy, Hampton, Tenn., Carl Crowe and wife Annie, Elizabethton, Tenn., and Alfred Crowe and wife Phyllis, Hildebran, N.C.; and four sisters, Shirley Matheson and Marie Perry, both of Elizabethton, Tenn., Florence Robinette and husband Don, Kingsport, Tenn., and Edith Keplinger, Johnson City, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Howard Conwell Crowe will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 25, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Allen Simerly officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until 2 p.m., prior to the funeral service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service on Thursday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be sons-in-law, grandsons and nephews.
