Nolan Dean Sams

Nolan Dean Sams, 67, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Hughy and Carrie Blevins Sams.
Nolan was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was employed in maintenance and as a car salesman. He attended the Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Campbell, two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis O’Grady; two sons and daughters-in-law, Guy and Barbara Sams and Tommy Dean and Kristy Sams; four grandchildren, Dustun Sams, Christine Campbell, Mickey Campbell Jr. and Tracie Stout; four sisters, JoAnn Waycaster, Tootsie Harrell Hill, Diana Pleasant (Don) of Elizabethton and Polly McPeek (Terry) of South Carolina; six brothers, Tommy Sams and Eddie Sams, Watauga, Fred Sams of South Carolina, Johnny Sams and FD Sams of Elizabethton and Jerry Sams of Florida; and his dog, Taco.
Funeral services for Nolan Dean Sams will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson and the Rev. Kim Casey officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 25, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of a sister, JoAnn Waycaster, 1716 Southside Road, Elizabethton. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital walk-in-ICU and special nurse, Jeremy Adkins. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
