One Carter County man faces a felony charge and another man faces a misdemeanor charge after police say a domestic dispute led to a stabbing at a county home early Thursday morning.
Officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bo Davis, 28, of Elizabethton, on Thursday morning and charged him aggravated domestic assault.
Toby Barber, 42, also of Elizabethton, will face a charge of domestic assault. Barber was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was not arrested at the scene by officers.
Around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Gap Creek Road after a 911 caller reported a domestic disturbance at the home with one man stabbing another with a kitchen knife.
CCSO Deputy Tylor Johnson said when he, Deputy Jenna Markland, and Deputy Jared Cook arrived at the home, they encountered Davis on the front porch of the home.
“As soon as the male seen us he stated that he did not mean to hurt him,” Johnson said. When Johnson asked who he was referring to, Davis indicated Barber.
“I then went inside the residence and found a male subject who was identified as Tony Barber sitting at the kitchen table with two stab wounds to his body — one stab wound to the lower left abdomen and the other on his upper left shoulder,” Johnson said. “I asked Mr. Barber who stabbed him and he said Bo Davis. I asked Mr. Barber why Bo stabbed him and he stated to me that they had been into a physical altercation because Bo had been verbally arguing with his mother and punching holes in the wall.”
Barber told officers that while he and Davis were fighting, Davis grabbed a knife from a nearby table where he had been sitting and stabbed him.
Johnson said he then spoke with a woman at the residence who identified herself as Davis’ mother. She said she and her son were arguing when Barber came out of the bedroom and started arguing with Davis, which led to a physical altercation.
The woman told officers she returned to the bedroom and heard Barber scream “he stabbed me” so she called 911.
Barber was transported from the scene to a local hospital for treatment. Johnson said Barber will be charged with domestic assault in connection with the incident.
Davis was arrested and taken to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed by Investigator Randy Bowers regarding the incident. Following the interview, Davis was booked into the Carter County Detention Center where he remains held under a $10,000 bond.
