Novella Timbs Peters, 91, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at her residence. Novella was born in the Fish Springs Community of Carter County to the late J.A. Timbs Sr. and Bertie Williams Timbs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward McClelland Peters, and four brothers, Charles Timbs, Rubin Timbs, Lawrence C. Timbs and Gene Timbs.
Novella retired as a department manager, but had worked both as a clerk and cashier at various department stores. She was an active member of West Side Christian Church and loved to do crossword puzzles and play Scrabble.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Gloria Kay Sapienza of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sons, Larry Walsh and wife Dianna of Elizabethton and Charles Peters and wife Judith of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters; three brothers; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private graveside service was held at Mountain Home National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Side Christian Church, 1307 W. G. Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to your local hospice facility, in honor of Novella.
