Joseph Garvin Davis

Joseph Garvin Robinson Davis, 80, of Elizabethton, Tenn., formerly of Iuka, Miss., died Friday, September 16, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Davis was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a retired pipe fitter from TVA. He was a Mason, and enjoyed playing guitar and singing with friends around the campfire. Joe Garvin Davis was a well-known colorful character, and a local expert, wherever he was.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Hyder (Bill) of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Jennifer DeLoach (Cliff) of Talking Rock, Ga.; one brother, Bobby Scruggs of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Lessel Robinson of Iuka, Jean Wilson of Ooltewah, Tenn., Sarah McBee of Iuka and Martha Barlar of Pulaski, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Joey Bowers, Andy Bowers, Lacie Hyder, Kip DeLoach, Ben DeLoach and Delaney DeLoach; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph D. Davis; his parents, Elmo and Roxie Davis; his birth parents, Lester Delaney Robinson and Oma Lee Robinson Scruggs; two sisters, Elaine Long and Dorothy Forrest; and one brother, Aaron Robinson.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, September 23, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka officiated by Bo Murphy and Rev. James Rich. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers include Larry Cutshall, Charlie Cutshall, Cliff McBee, Joey Bowers, Kip DeLoach and Ben DeLoach. Honorary pallbearers include Andy Bowers, Barry Barlar, Terry Arnold, Gerald Arnold, Eddie Honeycutt and Mickey Mathis.
