The Shook Branch swimming area in Hampton is currently closed as emergency personnel are on hand excavating a vehicle from Watauga Lake. According to reports, the vehicle had one occupant, a woman in her 60s, and a coroner was called to the site. The name of the individual is being withheld at this time. The Carter County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation and there is no further information at this time.
