Velma Louise Pleasant

Velma Louise Pleasant, 76, of Cocoa, Fla., went to join her husband with her Lord on Monday, October 3, 2016. Holding her hand when she stepped into Glory, was her special niece, Kimberly Sheffield Haney. Velma was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Reverend John Sheffield and Maude Combs Sheffield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Sidney Pleasant; a sister, Geneva Campbell; and a brother, Thomas Sheffield.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sidney Pleasant II and John C. Pleasant and wife Donna, all of Cocoa, Fla.; a granddaughter, Sydney E. Pleasant of Cocoa, Fla.; a brother, Ken Sheffield and wife Cathy of Morristown, Tenn.; several special nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Charles “Dude” LaPorte and his wife Darlene.
The committal and entombment service for Mrs. Velma Louise Pleasant will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 8, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Gerald Holly, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at noon Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
