Martha Elizabeth Garland Stout, 64, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord unexpectedly on Monday, October 10, 2016, from her residence. Martha was born in Elizabethton to the late Clarence Lee Garland and Ruth Odom Garland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Stout; one sister, Beverly Denise Garland; and one grandson, Kaden Garland.
Martha had worked in manufacturing at North American Rayon Corporation for nine years and at American Water Heater. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, sister and sister-in-law. She was an avid Tennessee Vols fan, enjoyed gardening and loved her dogs.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Jamie Stout, Elizabethton; a daughter, Kimberly Garland, also of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Tammy Garland, Bristol, and Lisa Putman and husband Chris, Elizabethton. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Martha Elizabeth Garland Stout will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 13, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Terry Richardson and Mr. James Richardson, ministers, officiating. Music will be provided by Richard Williams, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, October 14, in the Garland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Landon Pritchard, Rick McClain, Billy Stout, Doug Stout, Jack Whitehead and Shannon Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Putman and Brandon Reece. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at 3 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, to go in procession.
