Stanley Darrell Bowers, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Jackson and Lizzie Williams Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was a retired construction worker. He was a member of Siam Baptist Church.
Mr. Bowers’ hobbies were antique car shows, hunting and Western movies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Stella Bowers, in 2013, who he missed greatly, and a sister, Arthene Carden.
Survivors include his daughters, Peggy Bowers and Paula Oaks, both of Elizabethton; a granddaughter and her husband, Heather and Shannon Winters, Bluff City; a grandson and his fiancée, Joseph Carrier and Jordan Floyd Buckley, Conway, S.C., Dakota Crosswhite and Jona Crosswhite, both of Elizabethton; his great-grandchildren, Trevor, Katelynn, Kayleigh, Kenzie and Jackson Winters, Bluff City, and Takoma Debnam, Elizabethton. His special friends whom he loved as well include Joe Carrier, Ronnie Tipton and Jack and Glenda Collins who visited him often. Also a special “Thank You” to the ladies at the Covered Bridge Café where he enjoyed Saturday morning breakfast.
Graveside services for Stanley Darrell Bowers will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, October 14, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Friday, will be Joe Carrier, Ronnie Tipton, Shannon Winters, Kevin Crowe, Steve Tipton and Jerry Tipton. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Carrier, Dakota Crosswhite, Trevor Winters and Jack Collins. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of his daughter, Peggy Bowers, at anytime. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Friday. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
