Joyce Elizabeth Morris Vandeventer, 82, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Vina Carr Morris. Joyce was one of 12 children, 11 who pre-deceased her. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School.
Joyce was retired as an Assistant Director of Carter County Civil Defense. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Clifford Vandeventer; a son and daughter-in-law, Carman and Angie Vandeventer, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 24, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Kenley Knight and the Rev. Brian Nave officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from her church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her caregivers, her neighbors and her church family for the support during the past two years. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
