Mary Lyons Morton Stevens

Mary Lyons Morton Stevens, 86, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Hillview Health Center. Born February 5, 1930 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Nat and Faye Greer Lyons. She lived most of her life in Carter County.
Mrs. Stevens was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. She attended Harmony Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Bailey Stevens; a daughter, Debbie Morton; sons, James, Ernest and Charles Morton; and her brothers, Johnny, Howard and Monroe Lyons and wife Margie.
Survivors include her children, Earl Morton, Hickory, N.C., Edna Speagle and husband Jack, Vale, N.C., Sue Morton, Elizabethton, Anita Feathers and husband Jerry, Greeneville, Janice Ingle and companion Barry Duncan, Newton, N.C., and Lori Elliott and husband Phillip, Bakersville, N.C.; a step-son, Larry Stevens and wife Linda, Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Connie Morton, Vale, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Betty Lyons, Wichita, Kansas; two brothers-in-law, Bob Stevens and wife Sandy, and Benny Stevens, all of Hampton; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mary Lyons Morton Stevens will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Feathers officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 31, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hillview Health Center, the staff of Mountain States Hospice and the nursing staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
