Jewel Vance Holtsclaw Edmisten

Jewel Vance Holtsclaw Edmisten, 84, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 28, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sherman J. and Ruth Winters Vance.
Jewel had worked for several years at Dino’s Restaurant. She was a Charter Member of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to sing and had sung with the Vance Quartet and the Fork Mountain Singers. She was a member of the AARP.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Burgess Holtsclaw and Robert D. Edmisten; three brothers, Deward, Sterling and Sherman Vance Jr.; and two sisters, Sylvia Miller and Bernice Vance.
Survivors include three sisters, her twin sister Opal Jarrett, Inez Johnson and Mary L. Bunten; her brothers, Ray, V.I. and Rev. John Vance; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Yvonne Glay; and a special friend, Grady Hill.
Funeral services for Jewel Vance Holtsclaw Edmisten will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Stevens and the Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Music will be provided by the Fork Mountain Singers. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, in the Richardson Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday, will be Doug Blevins, Darrell Johnson, Bill Highsmith, Grady Hill, Tim Johnson, Tim Jarrett, Andrew Johnson and John Randall Vance. Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Holtsclaw and her church family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of her sister, Mary L. Bunten. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
