City boards convene with light agenda

The Elizabethton Regional Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals met with relatively light agendas Thursday evening inside the Council Chambers in City Hall.
During the Zoning Appeals board meeting, the board considered and unanimously voted to accept a request by resident Nancy Matherly for an eight foot variance to side yard setbacks to build a carport at her residence. The board also voted to clarify that architectural metal is accepted for a project brought up by Charles LaPorte – discussed in during the next meeting.
With only two items on the Planning Commission’s agenda, officials voted to approve a request by Charles LaPorte for the site plan for property with the stipulation of proper sidewalk procedures be taken care of due to the property being off the highway.
LaPorte presented a site plan to officials for the future location of storage units adjacent to Lonestar located off US 19E in Elizabethton. In other business, the Planning Commission voted to approve a request for a subdivision plat by Joe Howell his property.
