Timothy “Tim” Earl Hopson

Timothy “Tim” Earl Hopson, 54, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at his home. He was the son of Earl Hopson of Morganton, N.C., and the late Merrele Johnson Smith. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Lynn Johnson, and his step-father, Howard Ray Smith.
Mr. Hopson was a veteran of the United States Army and was a heat and air contractor by profession. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.
Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his father, include two sons, Bradley Joseph Swink, and his wife, Laura, Hickory, N.C., and Brandon Kincaid, Elizabethton; two daughters, Natasha Kincaid of Washington and Ashley Nicole Hopson, Roan Mountain; a sister, Robin Lambert, and her husband, Billie “Chuck,” Hickory, N.C.; a brother, Johnny Andrew Johnson, and his wife, Fran, Wilmington, N.C.; a niece, Chastity Lambert Eckard, Hickory, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Sarah Annabell Swink, Preston Alexander Swink, Emma Grace Swink, Skylar Sage Tolley and Parker Glen Tolley. Two great-nieces, Kaila Elizabeth Eckard and Meghan Abbigail Eckard, also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Hopson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Warren Marcum officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Johnson Crabtree Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Billie David Lambert will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.
