Elmer Spencer Blackburn

Elmer Spencer Blackburn, 84, of Elizabethton, formerly of Butler, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Hill and Pearl Wagner Blackburn.
Elmer was retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 33 years of service. He was also a farmer. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Davis; two brothers, Fred and Paul Blackburn; and two sisters, Chloe Jewett and Marie Dugger.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ronnie Caldwell, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Bridget Simpson and Jaqueline “Jackie” Caldwell; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Ruth Morefield, Butler, and Mary Depew, Johnson City; a brother, Stuart Blackburn, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Elmer Spencer Blackburn will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles Morefield officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton and R.L. Hartley. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of Judy and Ronnie Caldwell.
