Hoover Adam Holder

Hoover Adam Holder, 88, MSGT Retired USAF, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Dora Estep Holder.
Hoover was a graduate of Unaka High School. He was retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service and was also a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was of the Baptist faith.
Hoover loved his grandchildren and loved to play golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Maureen Holder, who died November 9, 2014; three sisters, Blanche Holder, Oma Holder-Richardson and Sylvia Bradley; and three brothers, Deward, Daniel and Conley Holder.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Suzanne Holder, Finchville, Ky., Kevin and Jeannie Holder and Gary and Patty Holder, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Alex, Brady, Emily, Adam, Blake and Bethany Holder; three sisters, Eva Holder Estep, Elizabethton, Lois Holder Edmison and husband Manuel and Shirley Holder Richardson and husband Ronda, all of Kernersville, N.C.; one brother, Lloyd Holder, Rolling Hills Estate, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Hoover Adam Holder will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, in the Garland Cemetery. Military Honors and pallbearers will be provided by Shaw Air Force Base. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to his caregivers, Dawn Campbell and Wanda Hyder. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
