Rickie Dewayne Berry

Rickie Dewayne Berry, 27, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 5, 2016.
Rickie was a lifelong resident of Carter County and had worked as a diesel mechanic. He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Rickie was preceded in death by a cousin, Hunter Markland; a grandfather, Charles Berry; a step-grandfather, Jack Berry; a great-grandmother, Berdie Richardson; a great-grandfather, James Floyd Markland; a step-great-grandmother, Magdaline Walker; and a great-uncle, Jimmy Markland.
All who knew Rickie knew he was a wonderful father to his son, Rickie Dewayne Berry Jr., whom he adored more than anything. In addition to his son, Rickie is survived by his mother and step-father, Kim Renee Markland Bowling and Rickie Bowling, and his father and step-mother, Rickie Gene and Rachel Berry, all of Elizabethton; three brothers, Josh Berry, Dylan Berry and David Berry, all of Elizabethton; his fiancée, Megan Victoria Guy of Elizabethton; his grandparents, David and Nioka Markland of Butler, Leon and Sue Montgomery and Jean Berry, all of Elizabethton; his step-grandfather, Dale Ward of Elizabethton; his aunts and uncles, Heather and David Odom of Elizabethton and David and Heather Markland of Boones Creek; and a special nephew, Jace Berry of Elizabethton. Several cousins and his special friends, Robert “Boo” Coleman, Robbie Burchfield, Brian Williams and Bodie Gwaltney, all of Elizabethton, also survive.
A Celebration of Life service for Rickie Dewayne Berry will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, December 9, at First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton with Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. A graveside service for Rickie will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 10, in the Taylor Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the First Free Will Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday to travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be David Berry, Dylan Berry, Scooter Berry, Robert “Boo” Coleman, Mitchell Estep and Brian Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Berry and Shaun Isaacs.
