After hearing a pair of stories about decorating the Christmas tree, the children got the chance to
decorate their own ornaments.

Wednesday was a day for trimming the tree during Story Time at the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library.
In the spirit of Christmas, Wednesday’s Story Time featured the theme of decorating the Christmas tree.
Following the musical parade that begins each session of Story Time for the pre-school aged children, the young readers settled in for their story.
This week, Children’s Librarian Ashlee Williams treated the children to two stories, both of which involve a Christmas tree.
In Maisy’s Christmas Tree, Maisy, who is a mouse, teams up with her pals to decorate the Christmas tree, wrap Christmas presents and even sing some Christmas carols.
For their second story, the children heard about the 10 Trim-the-Tree’ers, a group of 10 neighbors who decide to get together to decorate the Christmas tree located in the lobby of their apartment building.
In this story, the children also help by counting out the things the tree trimmers will use to decorate their tree.
The young readers then helped Williams out by telling her the different colors on the library’s Christmas tree and helping her to count the Christmas lights.
After the stories, the children then enjoyed a special Christmas tree-themed craft activity where they got to decorate their own Christmas ornaments to take home with them. The children could color their ornaments with crayons or decorate them with stickers, or if they chose to they could do both.
There are two more weeks of Story Time programs this year, both of which have Christmas themes.
On Dec. 13 and 14, Santa Claus will be making an appearance during Story Time at 10:30 a.m. on both days.
The following week, on Dec. 20 and 21, the children will be making gingerbread houses at 10:30 a.m. on both days.
