Miriam Ruth Sellers Wellnitz, 94, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, with her family by her side at Hillview Nursing Home. She lived a long and busy life and had a big heart and would help anyone.
Mrs. Wellnitz helped build and develop Lorton Lake of Altmar, N.Y. She was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, Conn., and then of Lorton Lake of Altmar, N.Y. She was a member of the First Congregational Church on the Green, Norwalk, Conn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lorton.
She is survived by her son, Lorton (Robin) Wellnitz of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a son, David Skellington of Pulaski, N.Y.; four granddaughters, Karen (Tom) Mayhew of Redding, Conn., twin granddaughters, Bethany and Adrianna Wellnitz of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Desiree (David) Pastella of Pulaski, N.Y.; and two grandsons, Michael (Madison) Pastella and Deven Pastella of Elizabethton, Tenn. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Colin, Kaitlyn, Addison, Tucker and Calyx, and several nieces and nephews.
A service for Miriam Ruth Sellers Wellnitz will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton, Tenn., on Thursday, December 22, at 7 p.m. The graveside service and interment will be held in Norwalk, Conn.
