J.C.  Robinson

Mr. J.C.  Robinson, 78, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. J.C. was the son of the late Ronald and Ada Elliott Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charlie and Emma Wilcox Robinson and his maternal grandparents, James and Mary Lewis Elliott; his great-uncle and his great-aunt, William and Ida Elliott, who reared his mother. His first wife, Patsy Bice Robinson, his second wife, Shirley Feagins Robinson and numerous other uncles, aunts and cousins also preceded him in death.

J.C. was a long time member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and Hunter First Baptist Church, but most recently attended Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending. At various times he ws a Sunday School teacher, usher, Training Union Teacher, Sunday School and Training Union Director and Treasurer. He was a graduate of both Unaka High School and Milligan College. He served as a medic in the United States Army Reserve and served with the 820th Station Hospital for six years.

J.C. was an active member of the community and served for thirty years on the Area Board on Aging, and was also on the Board of the local AARP. He was also a member of the Tennessee State Employee Association, the Ruritan Club, and worked at the Department of Human Service for thirty-five years, twenty two of those years as the Regional Supervisor. He was a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center, the Senior Citizens Dance Club, the American Legion and was a trustee at the Wilson Cemetery.

J.C. is survived by a daughter, Ginger Robinson, of the home; two sisters, Beatrice Bryan of Baltimore, MD; Janet Sue Rosenbaum, Johnson City; a step-daughter, Kimberly Sells, Elizabethton; a step-son, Billy Olterman, Hawkins County, TN; five step-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Heath Parlier and his wife, Christy; and a best friend, Shirley Harris, who was always there for him and for his daughter, Ginger, during his sickness.

A service to honor the life of Mr. J.C. Robinson, will be conducted on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev Bill Greer, Dr. Dennis Deese, and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 -7:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service or at the home at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM, on Friday, January 13, 2017, at Wilson Cemetery with Rev. Willie Campbell officiating. Active pallbearers will be Dean Robinson, Roger Dean Lewis, Leonard Lewis, Keith Bowers, Rick Williams and Harold Morrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Childers, Heath Parlier, David Setzer, John Yokum and his many friends who visited him during his illness. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are invited to meet the family at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
