Kenneth Dean Hicks, 75, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, January 9, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James Howard & Juanita White Hicks. He was retired from the UETHDA. He was a member and Deacon of College Park Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: James Hicks, Jr., Robert “Bud”, and Richard “Dick”. Kenneth was a member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge # 566.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years: Collene Hyder Hicks. His Son: Dale (Debbie) Hicks. Grandsons: Eric (Jami) and Evan. Granddaughter: Makayla and Great-Grandson: Caleb. His special great Granddaughter: Hannah. Sister: Brenda (James) Ward. Sisters-In-Law: Judy Hicks, Maybelle Hicks, Joyce Cole and Debbie Hyder. Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Jerry Cannon and Rev. Charlie Trivette. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 in the Hyder Cemetery with Rev. Lester “Bo” Perkins officiating. Music will be provided by Blood Bought. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Friday will be: Keith Booth, Eric Dulaney, Scott Hyder, Fred Julian, Dean Proffitt, Hershell Scalf and Evan Shell. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bob Montgomery, Harold Morrell, Dolan Smith, Members of College Park Freewill Baptist Church and the Faculty & Staff of TCAT at Elizabethton. A Masonic Memorial Service will follow the funeral service by Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge # 566. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
