To celebrate completion of a classroom expansion at the school, Central Elementary will host a special open house next week.
The open house is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 23, from 6-8 p.m. at the school.
“We’re going to have an open house for our six new classrooms,” said Assistant Principal Letha Carr.
The new addition has allowed the school to get rid of the old modular classrooms and bring those students inside the school building. The new classrooms will be used by the Headstart, Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes. The project also created a computer lab for the school, expanded the cafeteria and upgraded the bathroom facilities, Carr said.
“We actually move in on Jan. 2,” Carr said.
The open house is for everyone in the community, not just the families of the students at the school.
“We would love for everyone to come see what our Board of Education and County Commission have done for us,” Carr said. “We’re going to have refreshments and all kinds of great door prizes.
“We’ll have a little meet and greet at 6 p.m. and the tours and refreshments will start after that,” she added.
Central Elementary is located at 252 Taylortown Road in the Central community. For more information on the open house, contact Central Elementary School at 423-547-4045.
