Gladys “Gerry” Stout, 74, of Butler (Poga Community), passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at her residence. Gerry was born in Avery County, N.C., to the late William and Ora Trivette Estep. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mattison E. Stout; one son, David T. Stout; and several brothers and sisters.
Gerry was a homemaker and a member of Stout Hill Church of Christ. She loved to cook, bake and decorate cakes, gardening and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Michael Stout and wife Melinda, of Michigan, Greg Stout and wife Karen, of the Poga Community of Butler, and Mattison “Scooter” Stout and fiancée Sarah Gentry, of Butler; two daughters, Sharon Stout and Claude Banner, of Butler, and Tammie Ferguson and husband Kevin, of Butler; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Anderson and husband Michael, Mikey Stout, Robert Stout, Sarah Poss and husband Justin, Kaylee Stout, Josh Stout, Savannah Stout, Alexis Christian, Rusty Christian, Natasha Schoffner and Aislinn Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, Michael Anderson Jr. and her special great-grandson, Jace Stout; one brother, Ronald Estep and wife Roberta, of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Gladys “Gerry” Stout will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, at Stout Hill Church of Christ with Mr. Donnie Cable, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. The family will receive friends at the church anytime on Friday, January 27, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will follow in the Stout Hill Cemetery, Butler (Poga Community). Active pallbearers will be Jessie Cable, Ellis Cable, Dale Cable, Lloyd Cable, Gary Cable and Brad Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Jacobs, J.P. “Junior” Clawson, Josh Stout and Robert Stout.
