Each year in the spring, the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce provides local residents with a chance to meet their elected officials during the annual Legislative Breakfast.
This year’s Legislative Breakfast is set to take place on Friday, March 24, at 7:30 a.m. at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Elizabethton, located at 426 Highway 91, across from the Elizabethton Municipal Airport.
“We have confirmed Congressman Phil Roe will be with us, barring an unforeseen change in his schedule,” said Chamber of Commerce Director Tonya Stevens. “We look forward to having him with us again this year as well as our state and local representatives.”
Stevens said the Chamber has reached out to all of the local, state and federal elected officials to invite them to attend the Legislative Breakfast.
“We still have a few we’re waiting to hear back from,” Stevens said. “Typically if they are available they join us for the event.”
Stevens said the Chamber hosts the annual event as a way to bring together elected officials with the community they represent.
“We feel like it is a good opportunity for our community and business leaders to come out and meet with their representatives,” Stevens said. The event gives the elected officials a chance to update their constituents on bills or other matters being debated in government and offers residents the opportunity to ask questions or make their voice heard about legislation that may affect them.
Tickets for the Legislative Breakfast are $25 per person and available for purchase in advance at the Chamber of Commerce, located at 500 Highway 19E Bypass, in Elizabethton. Tickets are also available online through the Chamber’s website at www.elizabethtonchamber.com/pages/legislative-breakfast.
“There is a limited number of seats, so we recommend if folks know they would like to attend that they go ahead and order their tickets,” Stevens said. “We can hold tickets at the door or mail them out.”
