Mary Vonell Harrison Clawson, 80, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., was surrounded by her family and friends, when she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2017.
Mary was born on June 21, 1936. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved attending her church every chance she could. She was a faithful member of Buck Mountain Holiness Church for many years.
In addition to her parents, Ancel and Sally Townsend Harrison, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, and a daughter, Sally.
Survivors include her loving children; four sons, Vernon Clawson and his wife, Sandra, Alvin “Snowball” Clawson, Howard “Mouse” Clawson, and his wife, Sarah, and Paul “Squeaky” Clawson, and his wife-to-be, Aleshia Hicks, all of Roan Mountain; and a daughter, Mary “Cricket” Ayers, and her husband, Wayne, Burnsville, N.C. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
The Clawson family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, from 5 to 7 p.m., or at the home of her son, Howard Clawson, 315 Bear Branch Road, Roan Mountain, at other times. The service to honor the life of Mrs. Clawson will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 13, at Buck Mountain Holiness Church with Pastor Alan Clawson and Pastor Stanley Clawson officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service on Monday in the Clawson Family Cemetery in Elk Mills, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
