Tracy Darrell Holtsclaw

Tracy Darrell Holtsclaw, age 80, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following an extended illness. Tracy was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Brownlow Walter Holtsclaw and Arthene Mabelle Shell Holtsclaw. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Holtsclaw; two sisters, Faye Largent and Ruby Jean Carnett; and his ex-wife, Mary Lou Holtsclaw.

Tracy retired from Carter County as a maintenance worker and was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a loving person who loved everyone, especially children and he was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Elizabethton Branch of the VFW and enjoyed playing music.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Danny Holtsclaw, of the home and Cletis Holtsclaw, of Hampton; three grandchildren, Terry Holtsclaw, Isaiah Holtsclaw, and Sarah Holtsclaw, all of Elizabethton; one sister, Geraldine Edwards, of Hampton; one brother, Murriel Holtsclaw, of Roan Mountain; two great-grandchildren, Adalynn Holtsclaw and Emma Holtsclaw. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Tracy Darrell Holtsclaw will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain with Rev. Charlie Trivette and Rev. John Harrison, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday; or at the residence at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2017, in the Holtsclaw Cemetery in the Sugar Hollow Community of Shell Creek, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.  Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Roan Mountain at 10:15 AM on Thursday, to go in procession.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital for the love and care shown to Tracy during his illness.
