Jeffrey “Jeff” Ray McGee

Jeffrey ”Jeff” Ray McGee, 57, of Johnson City, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017, at his residence. Jeffrey was a native of Carter County and a son of Doris Ann Ellis Turner, of Elizabethton, and the late Maynard McGee. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Walter McGee, and two aunts, Hazel Matherly and Ruth Hardin.
Jeff was a member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, shooting guns, NASCAR, and attending his grandson’s basketball events.
Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his mother include his wife, Gina Premo, of the home; three children, April McGee, of Johnson City, James L. Abbott II, of Johnson City, and Jessica Gobble, of Kingsport; his one and only special grandson, Lane Carter Ray Cash, of Johnson City; and a brother, Billy Joe McGee, of Johnson City.
A service to honor the life of Jeffrey “Jeff” Ray McGee will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, with Pastor Steve Burleson and Pastor Josh Scalf officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Tammy Cole. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service. Friends and family may visit at the residence of his mother, 609 Florence Street, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors to be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Billy McGee, James L. Abbott II, Larry McCall, Bobby McGee, David Hazelwood and J.B. Hosmer.
