Family members of Milligan students will enjoy a bevy of activities during Family Weekend.

It will be all about the family this weekend on the Milligan College campus.
The school will host their annual Family Weekend as an opportunity for family and siblings of students to see what the college life is like at Milligan.
“Family Weekend is the perfect time for a student’s entire family to experience a typical Buff Nation weekend,” said Jason Onks, director of campus activities. “Whether it’s enjoying the athletics events, meals or the beautiful campus, these days will provide an excellent display of what it means to be a part of the Milligan community.”
The ability to hold a family is pivotal for family members to experience the lifestyles with their loved ones, Onks added, with a bulk of the population not from the area.
“A lot of our students aren’t from the area,” he said. “It’s the perfect opportunity for family members to meet with their siblings’ roommates, teachers, and faculty and make a weekend out of it.”
A variety of on-campus events are planned throughout the weekend, Onks added, with basketball, baseball, and softball games scheduled to take place. Along with the campus life and specials at the campus’ bookstore, Onks added the school encourages families to do some sightseeing as well in the Tri-Cities area.
“There’s so much to do in the region,” he said. “We encouraged family members to register so they can receive an information packet on some of the different activities offered in the area.”
On Saturday,  the school will hold a special dean’s list ceremony at 8 p.m. in Milligan’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium inside Seeger Chapel for families of all students that have been named to the academic dean’s list.
“We’ll have 504 students being honored during the ceremony,” Onks said. “This will be for our fall and spring semester. We want this to be a special occasion for the students and their families to recognize accomplishments during the school year.”
Registration for family members will be offered from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 to noon inside the McMahan Student Center.
