Jack Lee Price

Jack Lee Price, 72, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Jack was born on August 22, 1944 in Norton, Va., and grew up in Elizabethton in the East Tennessee Christian Home where he thrived and made lifelong friendships with over 50 children, he loved as brothers and sisters.
Jack attended First Christian Church in Elizabethton while growing up where many families opened their hearts and homes to him including the Mills, Lipford and Daley families.
Jack was a 1962 graduate of Elizabethton High School and was most proud of his service to his country in the United States Navy, VP-18 Squadron. He attained a business degree from Steed College and retired from Summers-Taylor as an asphalt technician. He had also worked for United InterMountain Telephone Company and as a realtor.
On December 22, 1983, Jack got his forever family when he married Carmella and her girls.
Jack was preceded in death by a brother, James Price.
Jack leaves to miss him, his wife, Carmella Monteith Price; stepdaughters and husbands, Courtney and Michael Mathena and Lindsey and Jon Fair; grandchildren, Marlee and Trey Mathena and Bryce and Harper Fair. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew, Timothy Price and wife, Lisette, and children, Jack and Henry. His faithful pups, Alex and Bebe, are also left to miss Jack as well as all his special friends, especially the EHS Class of 1962.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Oncology Department of the VA Mountain Home, his hospice nurse, Emily White with Amedisys, Ina Barnette with Home Instead, Judy and Victor Deloach, the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, and Dr. Jonathan and Jill Bremer.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Jack Lee Price will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 201 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, Tenn., with Pastor Steve L. Harmon officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the home in Elizabethton, Tenn., at any time. A private inurnment service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery at a later time. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jack’s memory to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Carter County Relay For Life, or East Tennessee Spay and Neuter.
