A city man faces a rape charge after police say he sexually assaulted a teenage boy.
On Tuesday, officers of the Elizabethton Police Department arrested Christopher Michael Fox, 37, of 1298 Bluefield Ave., Elizabethton, and charged him with one count of rape.
The charge against Fox stems from an investigation by the Elizabethton Police Department in February following a referral from Child Protective Services. According to court documents, a teenage male told investigators that Fox had raped him in December 2015. At the time, Fox was dating the juvenile’s mother, according to the court documents.
The juvenile told police the incident happened while he was at home alone with Fox.
Investigators also interviewed the teenager’s mother, who told police in December 2015 she began noticing changes in her son’s behavior, such as his school work, and also that he has struggled with depression since that time.
“On March 14 I conducted an interview with Christopher Fox,” said EPD Sgt. Shane Darling. “Fox initially denied any allegations, but later in the interview, Chris admitted to bending the juvenile over a table and touching him in a sexual manner.”
Darling arrested Fox on a charge of rape and transported him to the Carter County Detention Center where Fox was booked in and held under a $100,000 bond.
On Wednesday, Fox appeared in General Sessions Court and was arraigned on the charge against him.
Judge Keith Bowers Jr. appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent Fox and reset the case for March 21.
Bowers left Fox’s bond unchanged at $100,000 and ordered the man to have no contact with the victim.
Also in court on Wednesday, Bowers granted an Order of Protection to the victim’s mother which also covers the victim.
