Linda Hurt Stanley

Linda Hurt Stanley, 65, of Watauga, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 17, 2017, from Johnson City Medical Center. Linda was born in Washington County, Tenn., to the late Clyde and Willie Arnold Hurt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Stanley, and three brothers, Kenneth Hurt, Jimmy Lee Hurt and Joe Hurt.
Linda had worked as a forklift operator for Cantech Industries. Linda enjoyed Bible study and spending time with her family and especially her grandson, Charlie. She enjoyed eating out and loved the outdoors, swimming, camping and boating. Linda had a very special relationship with her sisters, Dottie and her niece, Mary.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Denise Lyons, Watauga, Tenn., and Donna Lane of West Virginia; a special grandson, Charlie Lyons III, Watauga, Tenn.; three sisters, Dorothy Hurt Woodby, Johnson City, Judy Hurt Phillips, Unicoi, Tenn., and Libby Hurt Cross and husband Butch, Johnson City; two brothers, Daniel Paul Hurt and Eugene Hurt, both of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; as well as two sisters-in-law, Wilma Stanley, Johnson City, and Jeanette Ford, Elizabethton.
A service to celebrate the life of Linda Hurt Stanley will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Larry Campbell and Rev. John Jones officiating. Music will be under the direction of Charlie Lyons III. A poem will be recited by Wendy Zona. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, or at the residence of her sister, Dorothy Hurt Woodby, 309 Holly Street, Johnson City, Tenn., from noon until 8 p.m. Saturday. The graveside service will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 12:45 p.m. Monday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Charlie Lyons III, Denise Lyons, Wilma Stanley, Jeanette Ford and Mary Flickinger for the loving care given to Mrs. Stanley.
