Lack of financial information can lead to hard times.
It’s an issue Edwards Jones Financial Advisor and philanthropist Thomas Davis is looking to tackle Thursday during a special “Investment Mythbusting Class” held at Sugar Love Bakery inside the Bonnie Kate building. The event will be performed by Davis and Amy Pate of the local Edward Jones branch and set with a 6 p.m. start time.
“This is a class where we debunk the most common investment myths, such as trying to time the market, predict the market, and ‘safe’ investments,” Davis said. “It is extremely important for investors to be well informed about the difference between investment myths and realities before making decisions that affect their financial future. It will be a fun and educational experience for any type of investor.”
Having these types of events are common for Davis, who recently held question-and-answer sessions with students at Elizabethton High School and Happy Valley Middle School to help guide their financial careers upon graduation.
Along with visiting schools, hosting clients at his office, the ability to go out into the community and speak with residents is an opportunity hard to pass up, he added.
“I have found throughout my career that investors make more mistakes because of inaccurate information than because of no information,” Davis said. “So this is a fun way to keep that from happening”
The event is open to the public and will be catered by Sugar Love Bakery and Cafe. For more information, contact Edwards’ office at (423) 543-2018.
