Jack “Bud” Collins Jr.

Jack “Bud” Collins Jr., 77, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 20, 2017, from his residence, following a brief illness. Bud was born in Carter County on September 5, 1939 to the late Jack Durant Collins Sr. and Hazel Stout Collins.
Bud had worked as a millwright and was a member of Borderview Christian Church of Elizabethton. He enjoyed working on and racing cars. Bud also enjoyed hunting and taking care of his horse, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Bud is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Lena Bell Collins, of the home; three children, Karen Bowers and husband Jackie, Judy Thomason and husband Eddie, and Buddy Collins and wife Tina; his grandchildren, Heather and husband Bobby, Emily and husband Garett, Jason, Kortney and Chris, and Will Thomason; two great-grandchildren, Zoey Townsend and Lexi Vanover; one sister, Glenda Street and husband Daniel; one brother, Donnie Collins and wife Patricia; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Jack “Bud” Collins Jr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. John H. Smith and Mr. Scott Fisher, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Borderview Christian Church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Peters, Larry Peters, Ken Dugger, Steve Burrough, Gary Townsend and Joel Norris. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Borderview Christian Church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Thursday. The family would like to express a special thank you to Mountain States Hospice for the care given to Bud during his illness.
