William Carson “Bill” Puckett Jr., 67, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Bill was born October 11, 1949 in Elizabethton. He was a 1967 graduate of Unaka High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Bill was an Engineer with the Raytheon Corporation and Kennametal. He was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Carson Puckett Sr.; a sister, Glenda Taylor; and a niece, Michelle Taylor.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Taylor Puckett; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Christopher Persinger; two grandchildren, Jordan Persinger and special friend Brittany Greene, and Bailea Persinger; his mother, Louise Honeycutt Puckett; his mother-in-law, Greta Taylor; and several nephews.
The graveside service for Mr. Puckett will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 27, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Chris Persinger, Jordan Persinger, Bailea Persinger, Adam Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Logan Taylor and Austin Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends at the Elizabethton Golf Course. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Bill to the Building Fund, Lynn Valley Baptist Church, 1367 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Friends may visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
