ABINGDON, Va. — Yvonne Lowrie Ellis died Monday, April 3, 2017, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon, Va.
She was born September 8, 1928 to Harmon B. and Arline B. Lowrie in Unicoi County, Tenn. Yvonne resided in Elizabethton, Tenn., and was a 1946 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Later, Mrs. Ellis attended Milligan College. She married her husband, Harold Ross Ellis, July 26, 1948 and moved to Abingdon in 1951.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Ross Ellis; two sons, David Scott Ellis and Robert Lynn Ellis; and granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Lewey.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Ellis Cook; one son, Doug Ellis and wife Lorie; eight grandchildren, Joshua Ellis, Christopher Ellis, Susannah Worley, Ann Crews, Kathy Ramsey, Michael Cook, Sarah Lovett and Ross Ellis; and several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ellis was co-founder of Ellis Pharmacy, and a lifelong Tennessee Vols fan. She had a passion for history and genealogy and particularly loved 1940 era music.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Commonwealth Senior Living for the extra love and kindness shown.
