Members of the Hampton High School senior class are hosting a special fundraiser event this coming weekend to help ensure all of their classmates get the chance to make memories.
For many years, the students and staff at Hampton High School have organized a yard sale to help raise money to benefit the students at the school. For the last several years, the fundraiser has been dedicated to assisting seniors in attending an event that is often considered a right of passage for those about to graduate.
“It goes to raise money for Prom for people who might not otherwise be able to afford it,” said Brianna Hoyle, the Senior Class President. “It lowers the cost of tickets.”
All of the proceeds from the event will go to benefit students at the school, Hoyle said.
“Senior year is so costly, and some of the seniors can’t afford everything,” she said.
The Senior Class will host this year’s yard sale on Friday, April 21, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 22, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the school. The school’s greenhouse operated by the agricultural program will also be open to the community on Saturday during the yard sale.
“Anything that’s left over from the sale we donate to charitable organizations,” said Dr. Amy Banner, one of the teachers involved in the event. “One year we donated items to a family in the community whose home had burned down. We always donate the leftovers to a charitable organization or worthwhile cause.”
Anyone wishing to donate items for the sale can bring the items to the school during regular school hours. For more information on the event, please call Hampton High School at (423) 725-5200 and ask to speak to Amy Banner, Tracy Shelton or Brianna Hoyle.
