Training instructors from different business, industry and educational institutions all across the United States are receiving some top-of-the-line training right in the heart of Carter County.
TCAT Elizabethton kicked off their third annual Train the Trainer program on Monday, April 24, to train various instructors in different subjects and receive certification through the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), which is based in Kenosha, Wis.
“Elizabethton is only of the four designated NC3 regional training centers in the county,” John Lee, NC3 certified trainer at TCAT Elizabethton said. “Train the Trainer has really grown since our first year. This week, we have over 75 instructors here all the way from the West Coast to the East Coast.”
NC3 is a network of education providers and corporations that support, advance and validate new and emerging technology and skills in the transportation, aviation and energy industry sectors across the county.
And Carter County residents have the opportunity to receive that education right in their own backyard.
“It really says a lot about the staff and students of TCAT Elizabethton. We really appreciate the help from the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) … being able to be recognized as a training center is great for the school,” Lee said.
Day one was all about introducing instructors in different early phases, Lee said. With Train the Trainer expected to conclude April 28, instructors will go through different courses, which include:
• Automotive Scanner Diagnostics
• Mechanical and Electronic Torque
• Precision Measurement Instruments
• Greenlee Certifications
• Trane Residential
• Advanced Measuring Instruments
• Wheel Service
• Rotor Matching Master Technician
• Advanced Diagnostics
• Multimeter
• Tools at Height
• Heavy Duty Diesel Scanner Diagnostics
• Website Development
TCAT Elizabethton also announced Monday that the school struck up a strategic partnership with Greenlee, a Textron company, to provide in-depth Electrician and Building Trade certifications.
“Greenlee’s relationship with TCAT Elizabethton will allow students an opportunity to earn valuable, stackable and transferable industry NC3 certifications that are recognized by employers across the U.S.,” Lee said.
Initially, Greenlee will offer Wire Pathways, Conduit Bending, Voice Data Video and Installation and Repair to TCAT students, according to the school. Steve Lehr, Greenlee vocational business development director, was on site Monday and indicated future certifications would include Cutting and Termination, Fishing and Pulling, Fiber Optics and VDV Wireless Installation and Optimization.
Various training partners taking part in the event include Trane, FCA Starrett, FAB Lab, Dremel and IC3 Digital Literacy. Snap-On, who Lee added has been great at both the national and local levels, will hold a special reception for attendees.
