Cleo Edith Guy, 74, of the Poga Community in Butler, gained her Angel wings when she went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2017, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Cleo was born in Carter County on April 18, 1943 to the late Charlie and Hazel Cable Guy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Clawson, and a grandson, Hugh Gene Hartley Jr.
Cleo will be remembered as a loving Mother (best Momma ever), Grandmother, Sister and Friend. She enjoyed sewing, working in her flower garden and loved her cats and birds. Most of all she loved being with her family and spending time with them. Cleo had worked as a seamstress for Bike Athletic and was a member of Elk Mills Christian Church.
Those left to cherish her memories include her loving children, Lisha Hartley and husband Gene, Mark Clawson and wife Kristy, Danny Clawson and wife Connie, and Beverly Trivette and husband Todd, all of Butler; seven grandchildren, Tim Hartley, Kim Hartley, Ashley Guy, Christy Ward, Amber Harris, Catie Lunceford and Jacob Trivette; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Coy Guy, of Elizabethton, and Benny Guy, of Concord, N.C.; and three sisters, Shirley Morgan, of Butler, Joann Trivette, of Elizabethton, and Elsie Oxendine, of Salisbury, N.C. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Cleo Edith Guy will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Elk Mills Christian Church with Mr. Andy Lunceford, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Terry Dugger, soloist. The graveside service will follow in the Cable Cemetery (Dye Leaf Road, Butler, Tenn.) Active pallbearers will be Troy Guy, Travis Harris, Todd Trivette, Jacob Trivette, Timmy Hartley, Tim Hartley and Gavin Ward. Gene Hartley will serve as honorary pallbearer.
