“Cherished by her sons and daughters,
Memories sweet shall throng
Round our hearts, O Alma Mater,
As we sing this song.”
A portion of Milligan College’s alma mater sung over the weekend rang true for the hundreds of students that took the next step in their future endeavors.
Over 200 students life, cried and celebrated on Saturday, May 6, during Milligan College’s spring commencement ceremonies held at the Mary B. Martin Auditorium located inside Seeger Memorial Chapel.
Spring commencement was broken up into two different ceremonies. The 10 a.m. ceremony included graduates from the School of Arts & Humanities, School of Bible & Ministry and the William B. Greene, Jr., School of Business & Technology. Just a few hours later, the second ceremony featured graduates from the School of Science & Allied Health and the School of Social Sciences & Education.
It was a time for reflection, as various students and faculty took center stage to recall memories.
Even for Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer, the event was bittersweet as he shared laughs with the student bodies discussing the students participating in different activities on campus.
“You are forever part of the Milligan community,” he said. “Together, we looked forward to seeing the college’s mission lived out in your lives.”
J. Curtis Booher, associate professor of Christian Ministries, led the renewal of charge to Milligan students in the opening ceremony while Melinda Collins, professor and Milligan Director of Nursing, handled the honors in the second commencement event.
Milligan students Noah Evans, Esanse Gardner, Charlotte Stephens and Matthew Owens each offered a response to the students during the ceremonies.
