First Christian
Minister Michael Klaus will continue his sermon series “Sound Doctrine” at services Sunday at First Christian Church of Elizabethton.
The morning service is at 9:50 a.m.
The communion meditation will be given by Gene Estep, and scripture will be read by Katie Klaus. David and Cara Hutton will present special music.
Bible school classes begin at 11 a.m.
The evening service is at 6 p.m. Leslie Brockley will lead the music service.
The church offices will be closed Monday for Memorial Day.
The Tuesday morning Bible study led by John Smith will be at 10 a.m.
The Wednesday evening prayer service will begin at 6 p.m., at which visitation teams will also go out. Bible study and prayer service will be in the sanctuary with the minister doing a study from the book of Colossians. Adult choir practice is at 7 p.m.
Ladies circles will meet Thursday.
The men of the church will have their monthly breakfast Saturday at 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Poplar Grove
The Recovery Soldier’s Ministry Group will speak and share their testimonies at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday at Poplar Grove Baptist Church, Stoney Creek.
The congregation will celebrate 10 years in their new church building June 3. The old church was destroyed by fire June 3, 2005, and the new church was dedicated June 3, 2007.
The congregation will celebrate the 10-year anniversary with an afternoon of fellowship, food, and games at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 3.
Poplar Grove Baptist Church is located on Highway 91, Stoney Creek. The Rev. Eric Wright is pastor.

Biltmore Baptist
Biltmore Baptist Church will have a yard sale Saturday, June 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
A variety of items will be for sale as well as baked goods.
The church is located at 1181 Old Bristol Highway.

Doe River Baptist
Doe River Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School June 1 and 2 with classes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The theme of the Bible School is “Camp Out — Getting S’more of Jesus.” The closing ceremony will be June 4 at 11 a.m.

Unaka Baptist
Unaka Baptist Church will have its Brotherhood Breakfast Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. The cost is $7 with all proceeds going to the building fund.
The church will have Vacation Bible School June 4-7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. This year’s theme is “Galactic Starveyers.” An adult class will also be available.

Bethlehem Lutheran
“God Cares For You” is the sermon theme for Sunday morning worship May 28 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Johnson City. The sermon text is I Peter 5: 6-11.
Morning worship is at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Communion will be served at both services.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

VBS planned at local churches
A number of churches in the city and county are making preparations for Vacation Bible School.
Vacation Bible School at Oak Street Baptist Church is planned June 4-7 from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening for fifth grade. Chris Shumate is pastor.
Vacation Bible School at Butler Baptist will be June 5-9 with a registration kick-off June 3. Dan Wood is pastor.
Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School June 5-9 with classes each evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme of the Bible School is “Into the Deep.” The Rev. Randy Johnson is pastor.
Vacation Bible School at Sinking Creek Baptist Church is June 25-30 with classes daily from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The closing ceremonies will be at 10:50 a.m. in the sanctuary July 2 with refreshments and snacks to follow in the Family Life Center. Jason Hoagland is pastor.
Vacation Bible School at Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, will be June 4-8 with classes from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. The theme of the Bible school is Galactic Starveyors. Dr. Ken Jordan is serving as interim pastor.

Hampton First Baptist
Vacation Bible School will begin Sunday, June 4, at Hampton First Baptist Church. Classes will be held nightly from 6 to 8 p.m. through Thursday, June 8.
The theme of the Bible school is “Galactic Starveyors.”
