Mary Lou Davenport, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Hermitage Health Care Center, following an extended illness. Mary Lou was born in Carter County and was preceded in death by her parents, Chalmer and Hazel White and Willie Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester C. Davenport; one brother, Dallas White; and a son-in-law, Steve Burwick.
Mary Lou retired from East Tennessee Undergarment with over 30 years of service and was of the Freewill Baptist Faith. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deborah Burwick and fiancé Wayne Picard, of Elizabethton; her son, Tim Davenport and wife Kim, of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Kayla Sproviero and husband Troy, April Chatman and husband Chris, Britt King and fiancée Emily, Zoey, Hannah, Chris and Austin King; her great-grandchildren, Jesse Chatman, Marshall Chatman, Sophia King, Carter and Bailey King; four sisters, Evelyn Andes, Belva White, JoAnn Reese and Thelma Nutter; and three brothers, Richard White, Roger White and Tony White. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mary Lou Davenport will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 22, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. Travis Sansom, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence of her daughter, Debbie, at any time. The graveside service will follow on Saturday in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Andes, Troy Sproviero, Charlie Isakson, Danny Williams, Britt King and Mike Sansom. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger White, Tony White, Richard White, Delbert Reese, James Nutter, Doug Cline, Stanley Barnett, Lloyd Yelton and Chris Chatman. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Dr. Vivian Clark, Dr. Jeffery Schoondyke and the staff of Hermitage Health Care and Amedysis Hospice.
