Traffic was bustling through downtown Elizabethton Saturday evening for the second annual JiggyROO! Festival — the second of a four-part concert series offered by Jiggy Ray’s Downtown Pizzeria. Starting at 5 p.m., hundreds congregated inside the downtown establishment and in the alleyway business to listen to music, grab a bite to eat and participate in different games. The Lauren Cole Band and Two Layne Highway, popular acts from the region, graced the outside to the delight of attendees.
John Seehorn, co-owner of Jiggy Ray’s, said the night was a success to help raise funds for the business’ “Raising the Dough for Education” scholarship program. All proceeds raised during the night are funneled into the program, which presents a scholarship to a graduating senior from each of the high schools in Elizabethton and Carter County. Two more festivals are on the horizon, including JiggyRoo (August 19) and JiggyFest (September 2).
The restaurant is also offering “Raising the Dough” discount cards. Each card, priced at $20, allows patrons a free salad or appetizer and 20 percent off a pizza. All proceeds go into the scholarship program.
For more information about the scholarship program, upcoming events or general news from the eatery, visit the Jiggy Ray’s Downtown Pizzeria Facebook page online or call (423) 518-1500.
