Two drivers escaped serious injury Thursday afternoon after a collision left a pickup truck on its side.

Deputies of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision on Stateline Road at the intersection of that road with Hatcher Lane and Bob Little Road.

Members of the Carter County Rescue Squad were also called to the scene after a 911 caller reported those involved in the crash might be injured. Emergency medical personnel assisted the driver of the pickup which had landed on its side in getting out of the vehicle. Rescue Squad members also checked both the driver of the truck and the driver of the other vehicle, but neither individual was taken to the hospital.

While investigating the crash, CCSO Sgt. David Caldwell spoke with the drivers of both vehicles as well as a witness to the crash who was traveling behind the pickup truck.

According to Caldwell, a male subject was driving a Chevy S10 pickup on Hatcher Lane when he pulled into the path of a Honda CRV which was traveling southbound on Stateline Road in a Honda CRV. The man told officers he stopped at the sign but did not see the Honda coming.

The female driver of the Honda and a witness who was in a vehicle behind the pickup truck both told officers that the driver of the truck did not stop at the stop sign before crossing into the path of the Honda CRV.

The Honda struck the passenger side of the pickup and flipped the truck onto its driver’s side. The truck then skidded over the roadway and knocked over the stop sign where Bob Little Road meets Stateline Road. The Honda came to rest in a yard adjacent to the intersection.

No further information was available regarding the accident on Thursday. The crash is still under investigation at this time.

Traffic on Stateline Road was limited to one lane while officers worked to investigate the accident and clear the scene.
