Charles Robert Lee Sr., 85, of Elizabethton, went home to join his wife in the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, from Johnson City Medical Center. Charles was born in Surgoinsville, Tenn., to the late Charles Franklin Lee and Willie Myrtle Mowdy Lee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Lee; his son, Charles Robert Lee Jr.; a daughter, Sandra Gail Hagood; three sisters, Beulah May Lee Dickerson, Dorothy Jane Lee Armstrong and Mable Ruth Lee Manis; a brother, William Howard Lee; and his son-in-law, Rick Collins.
Charles retired from Meade Paper after 35 years of service and was a United States Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was hardworking, loved his family and took care of everyone. Charles was of the Baptist faith and loved working on his farm, working with cattle and horses.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Vicki Collins, of the home; two grandchildren, Steve Hagood, of Fall Branch, and Scott Hagood, of Knoxville; a son-in-law, Jerry Hagood, of Kingsport; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Also surviving are his special family members, Darlene and Kay Collins, Seidena Malone and husband Josh, Collin Nidiffer, Kayson Malone and Everly Malone, all of Elizabethton, Janie and Henry Reed, of Kingsport, and Patti Marsh, of Gate City, Va.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Charles Robert Lee Sr. will be conducted at noon Saturday, August 19, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Dr. James Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at any time. The graveside service will follow at Tri-City Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road, #6, PMB 321, Johnson City, TN 37604.
