James Paul Fulwiler

James Paul Fulwiler, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at his residence. He was retired from the City of Elizabethton.
Jimmy was born at the homestead home of his great-grandfather, John Henry Slagle, Slagles Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. Jimmy was the son of the late Paul Fulwiler and Audrey Jones Fulwiler. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and bicycling, as a young boy, and watching the trains going through Elizabethton.
Jimmy graduated in 1957 from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Johnson City, Tenn., and attended Happy Valley High School in Elizabethton, Tenn. In the 1960s, Jimmy and his father worked in construction in the Washington, D.C. area. In the 1970s, Jimmy retired from the City of Elizabethton after 11 years of service with the Sanitation Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cain Jones and Cinda Slagle Jones; his father, Paul Fulwiler; his mother, Audrey Jones Fulwiler; his former wife, Rosa Maxey Fulwiler; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Left to carry on Jimmy’s memory are his daughter, Wendy Dawn Fulwiler Schultz, and a precious angel granddaughter, Rachel Audrey Schultz; his son-in-law, Steven Schultz; his sister, Patsy L Fulwiler Schuppan and husband Walter E. Schuppan; his sister, Audrey Virginia Fulwiler Talkington; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for James Paul Fulwiler will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Darrell Holly officiating. Interment will follow the service.
