A love of golf and community helped continue a mission for one local organization.

East Tennessee Christian Home and Academy recently concluded the 13th annual golf tournament, which netted approximately $20,000 to go toward operational expenses for the children’s home.

Ron Marvel, with ETCHA, told the Elizabethton Star Friday the event had over 90 golfers participate at Elizabethton Golf Course.

“It’s always such a fun day,” Marvel said. “We’re able to come together and have fellowship. We really appreciate the support of everyone that participated and everyone from the community that allows us to keep our services open for the children of the community.”

James Crouch Garage and Trinity Marble and Granite of Johnson City served as sponsors of the event. Marvel also commended the efforts of Elizabethton Chick-fil-A. The businesses donated their time and provided food for participants.

ETCHA serves as a faith-based home for adolescent girls. Proceeds raised from the golf tournament go toward operational expenses at the facility.

Marvel thanked everyone that took time out to support the endeavor. ETCHA is currently in the process of raising funds to acquire a new van, which is used to transport children to medical visits.
