Tickets are now on sale for one of the community’s most popular annual events — The Taste of Carter County.

This year, the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce will host the Taste of Carter County on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 5-8 p.m. at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Elizabethton. The sponsor for this year’s Taste of Carter County is Security Federal Bank.

Each year, the Taste of Carter County brings together local restaurants to showcase their specialties while providing attendees the chance to sample all the different foods. The event also serves as a means to raise money for a local non-profit organization.

“We’re excited about the event,” Chamber Director Tonya Stevens said.

The Chamber hopes to have between 15 and 20 local restaurants take part in this year’s event.

“We still have room for some restaurants to participate,” Stevens said, adding the Chamber is also extending the invitation to area food trucks.

There is no fee for a restaurant to sign up for the event, but they will be required to provide food for the event at no charge.

“They are to provide at least one but no more than three menu items,” Stevens said. “It’s just a taste, so they don’t have to provide a full portion.”

Stevens said the Chamber recommends restaurants provide a 4-ounce sample cup size of items. While the portions for the individual items are small, those little tastes add up.

“Once you get all the different offerings it really is a meal,” Stevens said.

Any restaurants who would like to take part in the Taste of Carter County is asked to contact the Chamber at 423-547-3850.

Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce or either Security Federal location in Elizabethton. Tickets are also available through the Chamber’s website at www.elizabethtonchamber.com using PayPal.

Those attending can also purchase tickets through Isaiah 117 House, which was selected as the non-profit to receive proceeds from this year’s event.
