Gary Stephen Simerly, 66, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at his residence after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Thurman H. and Virgie Mae Woodby.
Gary was a retired truck driver from Bolton Block Company. He loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lynn Wargo and Joan Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Georgia Beasley; two sisters, June Cunningham, Ocala, Fla., and Kathy Miller, Hampton; three brothers, J.B. Simerly, Harrisburg, Ill., Bobby and Jerry Simerly, both of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service for Gary Stephen Simerly will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. Alan King officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Troy Simerly, Larry Simerly, Joseph Miller, Austin Miller, Lonnie Lineberry and M.A. Lineberry.
